Volunteer today!
We are looking for volunteers to help provide a quality experience for the Boy Scouts taking the Fly Fishing Merit Badge at Camp Alexander this summer from 9 June until 1 August. Each Day starts at 8:45am, meeting at the pavilion on the river in Eleven Mile Canyon, and will end at 11:45am. Because of the detail involved with the BSA Flyfishing Merit Badge we have divided the merit badge into five units:
1. Introduction to Flyfishing (Monday)
2. Fly Tying (Split Tuesday and Wednesday)
3. Casting Instruction/ Entomology (Split Tuesday and Wednesday)
4. Nymphing and Dry Fly Fishing on the river (Thursday)
5. Streamer/Lake Fishing (Friday)
We are seeking volunteers to help teach Fly Tying, Casting and Entomology on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and then Nymphing and Dry Fly Fishing on Thursdays. We are trying to be flexible to be able to get the most participation. You do not have to be an expert angler, just interested in helping youth learn a new skill that we want to pass on to this next generation, and we also want to pass on the passion and enjoyment that comes from the sport. For more information contact Mark and Liz Taylor at 719-332-7674 or Angler's Covey at 719-471-2984.
