PPF Welcomes New Casting Program Director - Shane Morrison
Shane has agreed to take over the position recently vacated by Clay Roberts. Our sincere
thanks to Clay and Sandy for providing an outstanding Casting Clinic program over the last several years.
Here's a brief note from Shane:
"For those of you who don't know, I've been an FFF
Certified Casting Instructor (CCI) for about 5 years, and have assisted Clay Roberts with teaching casting for the club over
the last few years. Particularly, for now, I intend to keep to the same schedule as Clay had established. We'll hold casting
clinics the first Saturday after our monthly meeting starting at 9 AM lasting until 11 AM. I intend to start this next month,
first class will be April 5th. I will try not to vary from this schedule, unless special circumstances require it, like
bad weather. For now, I will continue to hold the class on the south west end of Prospect Lake (Memorial Park) unless we move
to the grass. We can reconsider if a better venue presents itself.
Clay has set the standards high, but I hope to continue a quality program. I welcome your input on the casting program, so feel
free to make suggestions. I will probably conduct an informal survey of club members for feedback and to see if there are any
special interests with casting. Although much of our casting focuses on beginners, I would like to see more people get involved
at the intermediate and advanced levels."
Please note, one change to the program is that you will need bring your own equipment to the clinics.

Trip Director and Trip Captains still needed!!
Step up and be a leader! You don't have to be an expert fly fisher to help organize a
trip.
We are still looking for a Trip Director to help coordinate all the trips and Trip Captains are still needed for several of the
trips, most notably the April trip to the Arkansas between Canon City and Salida.
Trip Director's function will be to help coordinate the trips with the Trip Captains, making sure they have signs if required,
participant info, trip waivers, directions, etc.
Trip Captain's function will be to help coordinate the individuals signed up for the trip they are in charge of. While it
would be best for a captain to be familiar with the area the trip is visiting, that's not absolutely necessary. All
that's needed is a willingness to help organize things a little, like picking out a meeting place to gather at on the day of
the trip, making sure folks have directions to the area being visited and so on.
For more information, contact Leo, (719) 477-6911 poleonapole@q.com or Pat, (719) 331-7274 ppf@mccmi.com
