Welcome!

The Pikes Peak Flyfishers (PPF) is a friendly group of Colorado Springs  fly fishing men and women who share their love for the sport. We have a lot fun getting together at our monthly meetings and participating in our club trips. You will find this group of people very knowledgable about flyfishing and interested in helping you learn more about the sport in any way they can.

The PPF meet once a month on the first Wednesday of the month. There are programs and projects for all experience levels, and newcomers to the sport are especially welcome.  The club is also an affiliated chapter of the Federation of Fly Fishers (FFF).

PPF Club Meeting - Our next PPF Club Meeting will be held on Wednesday 1 February 2012. Our guest speaker for the PPF's February Meeting will be Past President and Project Healing Water's Regional Coordinator, Gary Spuhler. February's PPF program will be about Project Healing Waters - Fort Carson.  PPF is the original sponsoring Club and PHWFF, Inc.'s MOA signatory club. PPF has been joined by Cheyenne Mountain Chapter of TU in a collaborating effort. Our volunteer pool is drawn from both clubs. The program will follow PHW's history, PPF's involvement and a summary of the 2011 activities and events.

Pikes Peak Fly Fishers 2012 Fly Tying Class
Classes will be conducted in the Conference Room at Ghillies Fly Shop, located at 117 S. Nevada Ave on the corner of Colorado Ave. Classes will start at 6:00 pm and run to approximately 8:30 pm on those evenings. If you are interested in signing up for any of these classes, please e-mail me at gene.rea@hotmail.com and tell me which class and which date you are interested in and I'll sign you up. Classes are limited to 6 students each. You are free to bring your own tools and vises if you have them, but if not I have tools for each student in the Introductory Class. You should already have your own tools if you are signing up for the Intermediate Class. I provide materials and manuals for both classes. We charge a modest $10 fee for the materials and manuals - which are yours to keep at the conclusion of the class, however, the loaner tools have to be returned to me at the end of the course. Please, I encourage prospective students not to sign up for the Intermediate Class if you haven't been through an Introductory Class, or haven't already been tying for some time. The techniques taught in the Intermediate Class build upon what you should already know or have learned from the Introductory Class and the Intermediate Class is taught at a quicker pace. For new tiers, I advise that you don't sign up for both courses one after the other - take some time to apply what you have learned in the Introductory Course and to get those principles down solid before taking the Intermediate course next fall. You'll be a much better tier and gain more confidence if you take your time and do it right. Click here to take you to the Fly Tying page.

January 2012: Intro to Fly Tying: Monday evenings at 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm on the 9th, 16th, and the 23rd. Intermediate Fly Tying: Wednesday evenings at 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm on the 11th, and18th.

February 2012: Intro to Fly Tying: Monday evenings at 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm on the 6th, 13th, and the 20th. Intermediate Fly Tying: Wednesday evenings at 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm on the 8th, and 15th.
